Different Language Warehouse Party w/ Dan Ghenacia & Djebali
Dan Ghenacia (Circoloco/Apollonia)
Djebali ( djebali )
Circoloco's Dan Ghenacia drops in to Different Language with fellow Parisian Djebali on Sunday 26th May.
Dan Ghenacia is the undisputed kingpin of the Paris underground scene and one of France's hottest DJ exports, having founded and ran for seven years Freak N'Chic and now one of the three creative minds behind new label and b2b2b DJ outfit Apollonia.
Aside from Paris Dan has spent many summers in Ibiza, although initially "afraid it was going to be cheesy" he grins, DC10 won him over and he quickly scored a coveted residency there. Ten years on, Summer season 2012 saw him rock a prime-time Terrace slot almost every other week, and since the club entered 'A New Era' he has become an integral duo along with Dyed Soundorom for their b2b sets.
"...more mature, confident and comfortable in his individual sound than ever..."
2012 saw the highly-anticipated launch of Apollonia, Dan's new record label with Dyed Soundorom and Shonky. Serving as a platform for the trio's productions, Dan's recent collaboration with Shonky 'Close To The Edge' gained full support across the underground scene and became a prominent track of the summer, while a solo EP from Dan will be out before the end of the year. Once again exercising his eye for quality music, the debut album from Chris Carrier and Hector Moralez will be released on Apollonia, as well as carefully selected represses of Dan and the boys' favourite classic vinyl, the first being 'Underwater' from POINT G. Also performing as a b2b2b DJ trio presenting special showcases around the world, Apollonia marks a new phase in Dan's career - travelling and playing alongside his closest allies, more mature, confident and comfortable in his individual sound than ever.
A club kid in Paris in the early 00s and inspired by great artists of the time Dan Ghenacia, Ivan Smagghe, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano, Djebali was ultimately drawn into life, first gracing the decks of a club in 2001. Since then he has evolved into an accomplished house producer, launching his self-titled imprint in 2011 and making his Circoloco debut on the Terrace at DC10 Ibiza.
On the production front, Djebali caught the attention of none other than Jay Haze. Totally charmed by Djebali's warm and fluid style, his first EP 'Fanfare' was released on Jay's label Tuning Spork in 2008. Releases on Freak n'Chic followed, the inaugural label of quality Parisian house talent, delivering his 4 track 'LAX EP' to wide critical acclaim. With 'Sorry, I Missed The Sky', Djebali further cemented his signature smooth, organic house sound.
"( djebali ), a limited vinyl series of only his music, produced, arranged and mixed exclusively on analogue gears..."
2011 saw the launch of ( djebali ), a limited vinyl series of only his music, produced, arranged and mixed exclusively on analogue gears. The first two releases received support from the likes of Jimpster, Burnski, Kate Simko and Sebo K, while the third release, comprising of two deeply hypnotic tracks, is just about to drop. On the remix front, with noteworthy labels like Monique Musique and Nordik Net already under his belt, Djebali has a number of forthcoming releases on Turquoise Blue and Limonada, as well as a rework for Inland Knights on Homecoming Music.
2012 looks set then to be another exciting year for Djebali, and what better way to kick things off than New Year's Day with Circoloco, as he heads to Ibiza to rock DC10 once again.
